Pastor Kevin Miller concludes the book of Philippians.
Concern for One Another > Philippians 4:10-23
4:10-13 Contentedness is rare in our culture, but it is one trait that we should look to cultivate as Christians. Our contentedness is larger than our circumstances, because it is rooted in the Lord Himself: what He is doing in and through us and what He promises upon Christ’s return. This Christmas season, where is your hope? Do your ambitions center around the things of this world, or around Christ and His kingdom?
4:14-20 Partnership has been a recurring theme all throughout the letter and here we see yet one more reminder of the joy that comes from loving, serving, and caring for one another. Serving the Lord is meant to be done together. In what ways can you serve the Lord alongside others in this coming year? What things are you already doing that you could invite others to join in?
4:21-23 The letter to the Philippians begins with grace and it ends in the same way. These greetings are more than mere formalities, instead they are examples of God’s grace in the lives of believers – examples to be celebrated, examples that the Philippians should praise the Lord over! Are you looking for ways to worship the Lord for His goodness and grace?
Be: These three themes have been found all throughout the letter and their being repeated again here only serves to emphasize their importance. Ask the Lord to lodge them deep into your heart, so that your actions would follow.
Make: Even today, put these into practice. Before leaving, take a couple of minutes to encourage somebody here at the church – get to know them or reconnect with them, but look for ways that you can be praying and thanking the Lord for His work through their lives.
