Sermon Video:
3:1-6 The mystery of Christ. Paul interrupts himself to make two important points at this stage of the letter: he has been given insight and understanding from the Lord which was to be passed on to Gentile Christians. And, second: that insight is into the mystery of Jesus now revealed โ that Godโs plan involves making one new people, neither Jew nor Gentile, who have access to Jesus through the gospel.
3:7-13 Witness to the world. That โone new peopleโ is the church โ the body of those who have faith in Jesus Christ. They bear witness to Godโs mystery-now-revealed and show Godโs greatness even in their own weakness and neediness. The church is Godโs plan for revealing how Jesus fulfills all of Godโs promises and for gladly worshiping Him in response.
The Point: In Christ, we are no longer on the outside. Instead, we who believe are brought near, to bring glory to God.
Prayer: Father, you have blessed us beyond deserving โ beyond imagining! Thank you for revealing what we would never guess on our own: that blessing would come to people who donโt deserve it and canโt earn it through Jesus Christ. Thank you for using us to reflect your glory!
Application: Everything truly does revolve around Jesus. Do you trust Him? Jesus Christ loves his church โ do you? How can you grow in being part of Christโs church in a world that minimizes the importance of Godโs people?
Here is how I will apply these truths: ___________________
