Sermon Video:
1:3-5 The produce of gospel partnership. Why does partnership in the treasuring and spread of the gospel matter? Because it produces an otherworldly Christian joy and thankfulness greater than our circumstances.
1:6-8 The love of gospel partnership. Paulโs reassurance for the Philippians is that God would complete what He had begun in them โ and He will do the same in us! Loving fellowship is what Christ has called us into: with each other and with Himself!
1:9-11 The prayer for gospel partnership. Ultimately, Paul prays for this love to be combined with knowledge and discernment in a way that produces mature partnership in the gospel as we follow Jesus Christ.
The Point: Gospel partnership (or fellowship) is at the core of what it means to follow Jesus with joy. He has called us to relationship with Himself and He blesses and encourages us in relationships with others throughout His church.
Prayer: Lord, we think too little of partnership. We value fellowship too lightly. Thank you for giving us the better picture we need. Make us to glorify you in true partnership.
Application: What concrete steps will you take toward a fellowship with others in the church that is based upon love and that produces joy? How will you help show a divided world that Jesus unites His people in the church around what matters most?
