It’s that time of year which seems especially reflective for many of us – and not necessarily in a good way. We are only a few weeks into the new year, yet this short time has been more than enough for us to realize that at least a few of our resolutions and goals likely won’t be fulfilled this time ’round, either. It’s also the time for harsher weather, spreading sickness, and still-short days. All of which means that this is the time when you and I might need a bit of help thinking less of ourselves and more of the Lord and His work. Let these three articles help you along that path…
- Tim Challies’ writing is a real gift to the church, and this brief article on what it looks like to trust the Lord when under trial in life is both realistic and encouraging.
- Lydia Brownback chimes in with a good look at what contentment looks like, and why we so often aren’t content: “Contentment is impossible until we accept that God doesn’t direct our steps for the purpose of prospering our earthly circumstances. Everything God does in our lives has one overarching purpose: for us to glorify him and enjoy him forever.”
- Seth Lewis continues his thoughts on being a person who does what’s needed (see last week’s Worth Your Time) in a helpful blog post titled “Being Somebody.”
