Service Video:
3:20-21 Bad response 1: โJesus is crazy.โ In contrast to the disciples (3:13-19), Mark warns us by revealing two incorrect ways to respond to Jesus. The first starts with the rejection of his own family: they believe that Jesus is out of his mind.
3:22-27 Bad response 2: โJesus is possessed!โ Interrupting the story of Christโs earthly family, Mark shows us another response: the religious scribes do not deny Christโs miracles. Instead, they believe that he is acting with the power of the devil. They wonโt even consider that he could be Godโs Son.
3:28-30 Good response 1: trust the Lord. These verses are both a warning and an encouragement. Do not deny Godโs work, otherwise you cut yourself off from salvation! On the contrary, trust Jesus and all your sins will be forgiven.
3:31-35 Good response 2: do what God says. You can be a part of Christโs family! Itโs not about flesh and blood, but about obedience as the result of faith. Following Jesus is Godโs will for each and every person.
The Point: How you respond to Jesus reveals what you believe about him.
Prayer: Father, we thank you that Jesus forgives the sins of all who call upon him and he invites us to be part of his family.
Application: Respond to Jesus in faith โ believing in him is reasonable and rational. Tell those around you that they can be right with God and are invited to have a relationship.
Here is how I will apply these truths: ___________________
