Sermon Video:
6:1-6 Jesus keeps moving. Jesus returns to his hometown, but the response to his teaching isn’t amazement. Instead, the people are offended, not by what Jesus taught, but simply because of who he is. Because they know Jesus, they think there is nothing special about him, so they won’t even listen to his teaching. Jesus calls them out for their lack of faith and then moves on to spread the word in other towns.
6:7-13 Disciples head out. Christ’s mission has always included equipping and sending others to take the good news of the gospel out. The disciples know enough to now be sent out with the same sort of ministry that Christ himself was doing.
The Point: Our pattern for ministry, our priorities for what matters most at First E-Free, must be based on what Jesus has taught and done. Our goals are to be the same as his whether they are received well or not.
Prayer: Heavenly Father, give us hearts for spreading the good news of your Son. Make us faithful as we tell of Jesus. Keep us from discouragement even when we are opposed. Help us to walk not by our own plans, but by faith, trusting you to work in and through us for your glory.
Application: How will you trust Christ and be useful for his mission in the week ahead? Who will you serve alongside or help to grow? What should trusting the Lord for results look like as you follow and serve Jesus?
Here is how I will apply these truths: ___________________
