Acts 2:44-45 God’s Treasure August 24, 2025 Sermon

God’s Treasure > Acts 2:44-45

2:44 Life together. Because of what Jesus had done for them, the early believers sought to do life together so that they could love and serve one another Christianly. In addition to worship, fellowship, and hospitality (2:42), they also shared with one another what the Lord had entrusted to them.

2:45 Other-centered. One primary example of how the Jerusalem church cared for each other was to value each other above the things they owned. They were stewards of God’s money and possessions rather than “owners,” and so they were willing – when genuine needs arose – to part with their goods in order to care for needs in the church.

The Point: Gospel transformation leads to Christ-centered change in every area of life. The Jerusalem church gave of their possessions not because they were rich, nor because they were forced to. Instead, they gave as an expression of the forgiveness and life that Jesus had first given to them.

Prayer: Father, we live in a world that is soaked in materialism. Work in us that we would value people made in your image over what we can personally obtain and own. Teach us to be stewards of your resources, using them to honor you and care for others, so that we would better know and reflect Christ’s own care for us. Enable us to love Christianly with our generosity.

Application: How will you use your money and possessions to honor Jesus and to care for fellow believers?

Here is how I will apply these truths: ___________________
