Children in the worship service?

The title of this post is written as a question because, for many churches and many Christians, it IS an open question. Should children be a part of the worship service? Or would it be better for them to be separated off into some sort of children’s church program for part or all of the service? John Piper has written (and spoken – see link for the audio) one of the best responses that I have ever read to this exact question. He covers every facet from “what about parents who just need a break for an hour?” to “what about the fact that most of the service flies right over my kids’ heads?” and everything in between.

You need to take the time to read this article. If you’d rather listen, then make the 12 minutes to do so. Both audio and transcript are available here.

We are a member church of the Evangelical Free Church of America.
