Parents: How to Have a Simple Devotion With Your Kids

It’s difficult being a parent. It’s difficult to be consistent, to make faithful choices when it comes to how to discipline, how to reinforce good behavior, how to parent well. And that’s made all the more difficult by every app and TV personality and “expert” telling you that you are doing it wrong if you don’t follow trend xyz…

One area that a lot of parents struggle in – and I’m no perfect example either – is to have a consistent time in the Scriptures each day with their children. It often is seen as low-priority (or perhaps no-priority!) in our busy lives. And, let’s be honest parents, getting into God’s Word regularly is something that we ourselves often struggle with, too!

I was pointed to the following short article about how to have a family devotional time that is simple, brief but meaningful, and faithful. I would encourage every parent (or even any Christian who doesn’t have a regular devotional life) to read it and use it as a starting point for spiritual growth – you’ll find that time invested here will always be worth it, first for God’s glory as well as for your own maturity as a Christian.

We are a member church of the Evangelical Free Church of America.
