Rescuing the people. Joseph does all he can as Pharoah’s administrator to care for the people of Egypt. While we might be tempted to see this as exploitive, the reality is that the Egyptians view it as a wonderful grace that both rescues them and allows them plenty to live on.

Though we often skim through genealogies, we need to recognize that this is important. It is the record of how God has taken one older couple (Abraham and Sarah) and has already begun to fulfill His promise of making them into a great nation. What the Lord has said is exactly what is happening.
