What high priests do. A high priest represents people to God. Essential to being a high priest is that a person must be chosen by God and they must be able to sympathize with the people they serve. Jesus was chosen by the Lord and knows what it is to be tempted. Yet, because He never sinned, Jesus’ priesthood is even greater than any other high priest.

A rest to be entered. The author of Hebrews continues with his application of Psalm 95 to our lives: there is a rest for the people of God if we respond to our Lord in faith. Note the warning: simply knowing about God or His ways is not enough, we must actively trust and believe Him.
