WYT: January 17, 2022

It’s that time of year which seems especially reflective for many of us – and not necessarily in a good way. We are only a few weeks into the new year, yet this short time has been more than enough for us to realize that at least a few of our resolutions and goals likely won’t be fulfilled this time ’round, either. It’s also the time for harsher weather, spreading sickness, and still-short days. All of which means that this is the time when you and I might need a bit of help thinking less of ourselves and more of the Lord and His work. Let these three articles help you along that path…

  1. Tim Challies’ writing is a real gift to the church, and this brief article on what it looks like to trust the Lord when under trial in life is both realistic and encouraging.
  2. Lydia Brownback chimes in with a good look at what contentment looks like, and why we so often aren’t content: “Contentment is impossible until we accept that God doesn’t direct our steps for the purpose of prospering our earthly circumstances. Everything God does in our lives has one overarching purpose: for us to glorify him and enjoy him forever.”
  3. Seth Lewis continues his thoughts on being a person who does what’s needed (see last week’s Worth Your Time) in a helpful blog post titled “Being Somebody.”

We are a member church of the Evangelical Free Church of America.
