Reflections on using social media, “getting more” out of church, and trusting in Christ’s strength rather than our own…

  1. A wise reflection and a few good questions on your use of social media: is it pushing you toward the Lord, toward holiness, toward loving others as Christ has first loved you? Or not? And if not, what needs to change? (Note: the author’s solution, much as I applaud it, doesn’t have to be yours. It’s her intentionality, her dogged desire to do something radical in following Jesus rather than the culture that is most helpful here)
  2. Erik Raymond writes: “As Christians, attending the Sunday service with our church family is one of the greatest privileges we have in life. But if we’re not careful, especially with the routine nature of the weekly meeting, we can slide into auto-pilot.” How can this state of affairs be prevented? Erik offers a number of wise suggestions…
  3. This reflection on Christ’s strength and our own weakness echoes thoughts I’ve been having lately. May it be helpful to you as well: “Something I’m beginning to realize in this life, and continually struggling to remember, is that I am very weak. Our daughter standing against a thunderstorm is a tiny comparison to the situations each one of us face each day. Medical diagnoses, financial burdens, family strife, personal loss, interpersonal conflict, and a host of other circumstances reveal just how weak we are. Yet, despite our smallness, as Christians, we can stand secure no matter the circumstance, as we draw strength from Christ Himself.”

We are a member church of the Evangelical Free Church of America.
