WYT: June 19, 2023 (and a note going forward…)

Good morning! I want to point your reading toward two articles that I’ve found helpful, but before I do that, let me give a note about these “Worth Your Time” blog posts. You might have noticed that I’ve not been as consistent as usual over the past month or so, which is primarily due to a number of ministries and needs taking priority over blogging. Looking toward the future, I’m also half way through a doctoral program that is growing more intense and time-consuming with each class. To that end, Worth Your Time will be a more sporadic series for the foreseeable future. For any of you looking for a more consistent round-up of helpful links and articles online, let me point you to Tim Challies’ excellent daily “A La Carte” emails (use the “Subscribe” link at the upper-right of the webpage).

For today, I want to draw our attention to two helpful articles…

The first is written by Kevin DeYoung and addresses homosexuality. This being June, I’ve found Kevin’s thoughtful questions helpful in reaffirming what is true and how God’s Word is not outdated or dangerous or irrelevant. These questions come from a larger work, a book titled “What Does the Bible Really Teach About Homosexuality?” which I also recommend. Two other books that address homosexuality and transgenderism in a helpful, gracious, and truth-affirming manner are “Is God Anti-gay?” by Sam Allberry and “Transgender” by Vaughan Roberts.

The second article that is well worth reading relates to chronic pain. I found Andrew Laparra’s thoughts helpful and hopeful. If you are personally struggling with chronic or unresolved pain, or you have a family member, co-worker, or friend who is, I think you’ll find this article (which has links to numerous other resources) encouraging.
