Welcome back to Worth Your Time! After a couple of weeks out of the office, I want to do two things in this post: point you toward what I have personally found helpful and encouraging online, and ask you to pray with me as I consider what direction to take things in the future. First, the links:

  1. The first, by Kevin DeYoung, simply and clearly lays out how the Scriptures do speak to questions and issues of personhood and gender. Often, we Christians are accused of being backwards, old-fashioned, and out of touch. Instead, what we must recognize (and joyfully embrace!) is that none of this is a surprise to our Lord. Instead, He has clearly and lovingly taught us how male and female matter, both now and forever. Take a read through DeYoung’s article and be encouraged that our Lord’s wise instruction has not changed and is meant for the good and flourishing of everyone, everywhere.
  2. Another of the arguments given against Christians is that we are on the “wrong side of history” with regard to the sexual revolution, transgenderism, and many other “isms” that our current Western world finds so fascinating. In that regard, I found Trevin Wax’s article to be a breath of fresh, hope-filled, air: what is presented as a certainty in social media and network news is not the last word on the matter, and what is seen as the inevitable conclusion that Christians need to get on board with is not actually what we see when we look around the world. Read and be uplifted.

Finally, I’d invite you to join me in prayer, asking the Lord for wisdom and guidance as I consider how to continually use this regular blog to be helpful, encouraging, and God-glorifying for Christ’s church. September marked the one year anniversary of “Worth Your Time,” which means that it’s an opportune time (see what I did there?) to re-evaluate how to keep this space useful and fresh. I’m excited to see what the Lord will do!

We are a member church of the Evangelical Free Church of America.
