I’m out of the office this week for a class, but wanted to highlight an article by Tim Challies that I found helpful. “Old” books by authors who have long since gone to be with the Lord have been one of the blessings that the Lord has used in my life. To read something from a different generation, a work with the same perspective on Jesus, but a different viewpoint on the troubles of life, has been extremely grounding and helpful. I’ve often referred to J. C. Ryle, and you’ll see his name come up in Tim’s article, but he is by no means the only older author of value. I encourage you: read this article and then dip your toe into the mighty river of encouragement from the past!
