Yahweh’s King. God’s care isn’t accidental. No: it’s part of His plan. Where we have failed, one human has not: Jesus Christ, fully God and fully man. He reigns, He rules! We have hope because of Him!

Wisely responding. God’s grace and mercy is on full display: he calls rebels to repent, to trust, to have Jesus – not themselves – as their king. Judgment is the end of those who won’t embrace the Lord. Blessing is the end of those who will.

Isaiah 9:1-7 King and Kingdom 12/24/2023
Hope for God’s people. Joy and peace come on account of Jesus. It’s hope in God’s promises, belief in the coming (and now, arrived and someday returning) Messiah which will usher in this kind of joy, his kingdom characterized by this kind of peace. God’s people have every reason for hope because we are loved by him, and Jesus is the proof of that.

Isaiah has been commissioned by the Lord to take good news to people who don’t want to hear it. Ahaz trusts in human alliances more than God, and so what should be good news ends up as judgment upon him.
